Madras HC Restrains Music Academy from Conferring MS Subbulakshmi Award on T M Krishna
The Madras High Court has restrained the Music Academy from conferring the MS Subbulakshmi award on Carnatic singer T M Krishna after a suit filed by Subbulakshmi’s grandson, V Srinivasan. Srinivasan alleged that Krishna had made “scandalous attacks” against the legendary vocalist, tarnishing her reputation. Justice G Jayachandran clarified that while the Music Academy can still honor Krishna, the award should not be associated with Subbulakshmi’s name.
